Our Mission
We operate our museum and research facility to preserve and present the history of McKeesport and its surrounding communities for public education and enjoyment.
Our Vision
We’re creating a community (members, visitors, and residents…past, present, and future) with a greater understanding and appreciation of this region’s history and its diverse cultural heritage.
Founded in 1980, the McKeesport Regional History & Heritage Center is a nonprofit museum and research facility dedicated to preserving the history of McKeesport and the Mon Valley. Its seven exhibit rooms include McKeesport’s first schoolhouse, built in 1832, and displays on local industry, worship, arts, daily life, early history, sports, and military service. An extensive research library helps visitors explore the region’s past.
The Center also brings history to life through programs, educational events, and reenactments. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children under 18. Members receive free admission to most programs, research privileges, private tour arrangements, and a gift shop discount.
